iQ.Suite Wall: the intelligent wall that repels spam and also delivers emails based on their content

GROUP Technologies integrates Avira SPACE for even better all-round spam protection

Eisenach, 6 October 2009 –
Defence against spam is a top priority for many companies; and with good reason. Industry association estimates put the loss to the German economy from unsolicited commercial emails at several billion euros a year. "Because the email is being integrated into ever more business processes, and rightly so, the effect of spam on companies which do not have adequate protection measures in place is all the more dramatic: spam mails jeopardise the stability of an IT infrastructure, waste time, and reduce operating efficiency," says Herbert Reder, Managing Director of GROUP Technologies.

The Email, Archiving and Administration Unit of GROUP Business Software AG has therefore launched iQ.Suite Wall, a solution which offers companies optimum spam detection thanks to a multi-level protection system. A recent and integral addition to the solution’s defence mechanisms is the SPACE engine developed by German IT security provider Avira, which offers features such as realtime blacklisting, new anti-phishing technology and methods for identifying alien terms in spam mails. Reder is convinced that "integrating the Avira solution into Wall has further enhanced our solution’s anti-spam capability and is another potent security component in the battle against the growing tide of spam mails."

Besides repelling unsolicited commercial emails, the "intelligent Wall" from GROUP Technologies is also capable of analysing the content of incoming emails and classifying them. Using sophisticated text analysis and classification technology, emails are then delivered automatically to the correct company departments and employees. GROUP’s proprietary CORE (Content Recognition Engine) technology is the key to analysing content reliably. The result is better response management with shorter response times, as well as more reliable email archiving. The latter is made possible primarily by Wall’s pre-classification of all incoming emails.

iQ.Suite Wall cannot only be used for inbound correspondence, however. Outgoing email traffic, too, can be afforded full protection in order to maintain confidentiality in respect of external business. "Data protection is becoming an ever more important topic. Our main aim, therefore, must be to prevent sensitive business data being lost," says Reder. "Wall uses integrated classification technology to stop this type of data being sent at all.

What’s more, in combination with other components of our iQ.Suite, it is now possible to establish the peer-review principle within email communication. Emails containing sensitive information or specific file types are sent to another member of staff – e.g. a data protection officer – for verification prior to dispatch," explains Reder, highlighting what the "intelligent wall" is capable of.

GROUP Business Software AG presented its email and CRM solutions based on Lotus Notes/Domino at the IT & Business trade fair in Stuttgart from 6 to 8 October 2009. The trade professionals who paid a visit to booth 1A52 were given a comprehensive overview of the iQ.Suite Wall solution.
