1. Webinar on email productivity: GROUP announces "GROUP Tools" bundle
With compliance being on the tip of everyone's tongue in this current climate, we would like to show you how GROUP Technologies looks after this area with our compliance and productivity "GROUP Tools" bundle.
Please use this special opportunity and reply to carmen.hickl@group-technologies.com to register for our webinar session to be held on the 30th and 31st October at 4pm GMT. This will be a valuable 30 minutes presentation followed by a Q&A session. If you are interested in participating but you are unable to make either of these sessions, please contact Carmen Hickl to arrange another suitable date.
The modules at a glance:
iQ.Suite Clerk
does not only notify the sender about absence of recipient, it automatically forwards such emails to specified users or groups periodically or within a defined time period. Confidential or private emails can be excluded from forwarding. Users do not need to give their delegate access to their mail file as iQ.Suite Clerk can be activated centrally.
iQ.Suite Budget
analyses all emails processed by iQ.Suite. The email volume is evaluated according to individually defined cost centres. The ability to define and structure email budgets for users and user groups enables the statistical evaluation of incoming and outgoing emails.
iQ.Suite Smart
controls load balancing of Domino infrastructures by enabling the organization to specify when certain emails (e.g. mass mailings) should be sent, including the opportunity for a 4 - eyes principle review (e.g. management approval).
Participants of the web session who decide to benefit from the GROUP-Tools bundle will receive a discount of 50% (The discount can only be applied for new licences. It is not applicable for maintenance renewals or other modules. This special offer is valid until 31 of December 2008.)
Take this opportunity and join our webinar!
2. GROUP Technologies meets the Lotus Notes community at UKLUG 2008
This year's conference of the UK Lotus User Group - UKLUG for short - was held in London on 18 and 19 September. This two-day event focused on all kinds of Lotus Notes issues. GROUP Technologies took this opportunity to present its iQ.Suite for legally compliant email management to this specialist audience for the first time. Many visitors entered into discussions with our email experts at the GROUP Technologies booth. This enabled us to establish plenty of new contacts and also to intensify existing relationships.
"GROUP Technologies sees itself as an integral part of the Lotus Notes community. After we took part as a sponsor for the Irish Lotus User Group, this was the next logical step," said Andreas Richter, Director of International Marketing at GROUP Technologies. "We have been maintaining close contact with Notes users for many years so, for us, it was an obvious move to meet and discuss with users and experts on site," Richter continued.
Visitors showed particular interest in email encryption and email archiving. Increasing demands on the confidentiality of business communications and the need to preserve them reliably were the main drivers for our visitors.
3. iQ.Suite Tips & Tricks for Lotus Domino: global parameters accidentally ignored?
iQ.Suite established itself on the market as a powerful all-in-one solution for email management a long time ago. But iQ.Suite's global parameters are often ignored when it comes to configuration in day-to-day operations. Accidentally, we feel, because they efficiently control many settings that affect fine-tuning and basic behaviours.
Our iQ.Suite now has a global parameter for practically every scenario. Many of them are discussed and configured at our training courses. The following example shows how you can get to grips with iQ.Suite's temporary work directory without any problems.
4. Exchange/SMTP Corner: stopping spam emails apparently from your own address
Sender of emails often receive spam that apparently comes from their own or from a colleague's address. iQ.Suite provides several ways of solving this problem and achieving the desired outcome quickly.
The extended spam filter job is the main way of detecting and blocking such emails. You can, however, also filter this unwanted spam by using a simple address filter. We show you this solution here.
5. Compliance Corner: compliance and the banking crisis
Nobody would have ever thought that the banking crisis could reach such a huge dimension. But now, at the very latest, company managers should be considering what needs to be done to deal consistently with the issue of compliance. Risk management systems, as called for by laws and regulations in many countries, have failed badly, causing many companies to say "we just weren't aware of our risks". Sums amounting to millions have been transferred as a result of "unintended" emails. Bravo!
Internal communication is just as unreliable. Nobody noticed the emergence of a "giant phantom" that was increasing the risk practically from minute to minute by allowing automated transactions to be sent through the world of finance at high speed. The question is: why didn't company managers bother to ensure that automated email correspondence with customers could not lead to anything unintended being sent? And another question needs to asked. What role did regulatory authorities such as BaFin and SEC play in all this? The legal options of American regulatory authorities have previously been pointed out in detail and the consequences of misbehaviour shown.
It is and remains the task of every single organisation to think about compliance and take the appropriate action. Rules and regulations must apply to prevent companies from going bankrupt and disappearing from the market as a result of unintended payments.
Perhaps the time has now come to look at compliance in far more depth. Get in touch with us! We will be pleased to give you advice and help you need.
