1. GROUP Technologies - Brand New Look

Since October 2008 GROUP Technologies AG has been operating under the name GROUP Business Software AG. GROUP Technologies is keeping its name alive as an entity within GROUP Business Software AG and has positioned itself as a solution provider for email, archiving and administration.

GROUP Technologies is operating under the new logo immediately in order to present the market with a uniform look & feel. The new company logo with “Email simplified” added puts a stronger focus on the field of email management. Despite the new logo and overall look, there’s one thing you can be sure hasn’t changed: we offer powerful, compliant and easy-to-use solutions that cover all aspects of email management!

Solutions from the GROUP companies will continue to play a vital role in simplifying modern information flows and optimising cooperation within organisations as well as with customers and business partners. 2. News from iQ.Suite for Lotus Domino: iQ.Suite Store 4.0 now available

GROUP will be keeping things moving again in 2009. To kick off the new year, we are launching iQ.Suite Store 4.0 for Lotus Domino. For you this means improved reliability and even more functionality.

Integration of a new, more powerful PDF engine now provides PDF/A support. This development gives you the opportunity to deploy the internationally accepted standard for long-term archiving - and all based on proven Oracle technology.

Our new "Application archiving" feature means that you can now integrate all Notes databases in your archiving process. This rounds off our vision of a central, end-to-end storage strategy. Another new function, "Delete in archive", is supported for EMC Centera, IBM TSM, FileNet and InfoStore systems.

3. New hotline service number - spot-on reachability

Expertise, flexibility and reachability characterise the GROUP hotline. GROUP email experts are now available under a new service number:

+49 (0)1805 4901-11
(14 ct/minute from a German landline)

Our new hotline number ensures a quick and optimal service. If you have any questions about installing, configuring or maintaining iQ.Suite, our expert support team is ready to provide the answers and will even support you on site, should the need arise.

4. Data leakage prevention - successfully plugging data loopholes

Scarcely a day passes without bad news reaching us about confidential and sensitive data that has got lost. Increasingly, emails bear confidential information that could easily fall into the wrong hands. More than 50 per cent of all security deficits are accounted for by a company’s own employees. This harms businesses in several ways. The long-term consequence is negative headlines, annoyed customers and partners, falling revenues, competition setbacks and, not infrequently, hefty fines.

The growing importance of "information" as a good and, above all, the necessity to prevent data leakage are now firmly established as problems in the minds executive and IT management. The terms DLP (Data Leakage Prevention) and ILP (Information Leakage Prevention) have evolved to become a separate task area within end-to-end IT risk management in today’s business world. The top priority of business enterprises is to protect business-critical and confidential data from internal and external security hazards. This means installing measures that detect and prevent corporate data from being mailed without permission. They put a stop to "accidental" abuse as well as detecting and warding off deliberate attacks.

GROUP Technologies is your reliable partner and the guarantee for zero-tolerance in email security for this environment. iQ.Suite Wall, for example, prevents the unauthorised transmission of confidential information and protects your intellectual property. The content check with Regular Expressions technology makes it possible to filter on the basis of a logical structure - credit card, account and national insurance numbers, for example. In addition, iQ.Suite Crypt implements server-based email encryption and protects sensitive business data so that there is no need for the user to intervene. The suitable encryption method is selected automatically in keeping with individual corporate policies. iQ.Suite WebCrypt also ensures that emails can be exchanged securely with customers and partners who do not have an encryption solution installed.

As you can see, GROUP solutions are crucial components of a successful data leakage prevention strategy, which is itself an indispensable element in effective information risk management.

5. iQ.Suite Tips & Tricks for Lotus Domino: blocking mails with bogus sender domain

Every spammer knows that SMTP mails can be configured and manipulated at will, and exploits this security gap to ensure that he never need send mails under his own sender address.

The classic case is spam or spoof mails that contain your own SMTP domain as the sender domain. iQ.Suite offers various ways of recognising such mails as spam and filtering them out of your mailbox.

Find out how to block emails that claim to have been sent from your own SMTP domain here.

You will find background information and mechanisms for this approach along with details of how they can be used for other purposes in our training courses. We look forward to your visit!

6. Exchange/SMTP Corner: recovering archived emails

You have already followed our advice and used iQ.Suite Store to ease the load on your overflowing mailboxes, cut down on your use of memory space and comply with legal and corporate requirements by archiving your business emails at a central point.

And now you want to find and restore your archived mails with the integrated search function? To do this, you use the global form in the global forms library; however, from Outlook 2003 SP2 you will need to make a new entry in the Registry.

Read here how you go about this and where you must take special care.
